Inktober Tangles 2021

Because I just didn't have enough to do in October, I took on the added challenge of Inktober Tangles too... I didn't actually finish the project until early November but, hey, I got it done! 😁

Zentangle - Meditation #1

I thought it might be nice to share some of my "practice" work.

I've been an staunch ally for the LGBTQ+ community since high school ('87 grad so... it's been a long time) and I've always believed that love is never wrong. Like, NEVER wrong... even when it isn't soft and pretty and looking like what societal labels and norms dictate it "should" be.

In 2014, my best bud asked me to be her maid of honor (again...but we really don't need to mention that) and she and her (now) wife not only arranged to fly me across the country to be there but they blessed me with the honor of taking part in what has to be the most beautiful, honest, and heartfelt wedding ceremony I could ever hope to witness. Weddings usually make me cringe more than cry but I couldn't stop tearing up on that gorgeous December day in California. I was (and am) so happy for two of the most wonderful, caring, loving (not to mention important) people in my life. My eyes well up thinking about it now.

So, when Pride Month came this year, I wanted to honor it in some small way as the ally that I am. Julie and Deb, consider this Zentangle-inspired art yet another "thank you". Shine bright my lovelies and be forever affectionate. You are my muses much more than you could ever know.

Zentangle Project Pack No. 08 - Day 8

Aaaaaaand Day 8! The last day of this project pack. I opted not to complete the full hexagon but did stay true to the tutorial this time. I really like the effect made by the black line and inner shading. :)

A Zentangle garden? Again, I put my own slant on it...I guess I just wanted it to be an "organic" garden. ;)

Not exactly the guided result but close... I just didn't fancy the overlaying colors. Artist preference I suppose. ;)

This one was a bit more involved but really rewarding. It even received the Greg stamp of approval!

Yes, I went rogue on this one... I really just wasn't feeling excited about the guided tangles so I did my own thing for Day 4. :)

And... Day 3! I decided not to fill the tile quite so much and added blue chalk (from Project Pack No. 07) in the background. Part of the fun is adding your own slant to it. ;)

Zentangle Project Pack 7: The 12 Days of Zentangle Days 10, 11, & 12

Finally, Project Pack No. 7 is complete. I've learned a great deal, most importantly to keep the true goal in mind -- to learn new techniques and practice, practice, practice. I've also come to realize how much I need to slow down and just enjoy the process. Thanks to all for the encouragement and support. Enjoy!

Happy Merry Christmas Eve! I managed to get a bit off course heading into the holiday but with some time this morning I've managed to get closer to the Project Pack No. 7 finish line!
