Willing the Spin

Standing on a morning shore, 
I scry the water's gray glass surface 
for direction 
as the haze has confused my compass 
yet again. 
Impatient for the ground 
to center me, 
I skip the first flat stone 
and watch the ripples 
create concentric chaos.
